Details

  • For non-Dell models, the only power option located in the BIOS is Restore after AC loss (or a similarly-named feature). Setting this option to Last State or Memory ensures that the device will automatically power on and resume operation following a power outage.

    • Dell chassis models have an increased option set. Please review the manufacturer’s documentation (provided in the Siris 5 table above) for a full list of features.

  • Power supply units in the UNAS Tower chassis or any of the rackmount chassis will automatically detect the proper input voltage.

  • In SIRIS devices that have dual PSUs, both must be operational and in good working order for the SIRIS device to perform properly.

Environmental Requirements

All units listed in this article have the following temperature and humidity requirements:

  • Environmental temperature: 5°C ~ 35°C (41°F ~ 95°F)
  • Environmental humidity: 10% ~ 85% (non-condensing)

Power Draws

Datto appliances have an average load of 40% to 80% on the PSU, so the power draw for each device is less than the wattage of the power supply.

  • Rackmounts use approximately 40% to 60% of the PSU.
  • Towers use approximately 70% to 80% of the PSU.

Datto recommends connecting your backup appliance to a battery backup (also known as an Uninterruptible Power Supply or UPS) to ensure consistent operation during low voltage and brownout conditions. The rated wattage of your UPS should at a minimum, match the wattage of your power supply.
